The myth that if you swallow a watermelon seed it will grow in your stomach is one that I believed as a child. Likely it was my older brother that instilled this terrifying belief in me. In my rebellious youth I bravely challenged this belief by swallowing one of those dangerous black seeds. When no watermelon grew, I knew that this myth was busted!
