My dad once told me as a young child that if I ever get caught not wearing a seatbelt by a police officer that I would be arrested and taken to prison. Looking back now as an adult, not only is this not logical but an absolute waste of police resources. Regardless, still to this day whenever I am on the road and see a police car, I immediately associate seatbelt wearing with the risk of being arrested.
