In the scene, a person is claiming that they think it may rain tomorrow because of the grey clouds coming in. Instinctively, the next person goes and knocks on the base of the tree as if they were to say “knock on wood”. This myth is the idea that if something potentially negative is said or something is said that you do not want to happen, knocking on the wood would cancel out that thought and there will be, for example, a lesser chance of rain.
